Our staff is trained and skilled, and we strive to provide energetic and fun-loving service to each patient. Our office staff has years of experience in treating patients with the highest level of care. We strive to stay abreast of the very latest in technology and advances by regularly attending continuing education courses and seminars.

About Dr. Benson

Dr. Gary P. Benson was born and raised in central Illinois. He went to college at the University of Illinois, where his parents were both professors, and received his B.S. in Biology in 1991. He then moved to the University of Illinois at Chicago to earn his B.S. in Dental Science in 1993, D.D.S. in 1995 and a M.S. in Histology in 1997. In 1998, Dr. Benson earned his Certificate in Orthodontics. In addition to his private practice, he is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. In July of 2005 Dr. Benson also completed a two year advanced occlusion and orthodontic program given by the AEO Group/Roth Williams USA.

Dr. Benson stays abreast of the latest advances in dentistry and orthodontics with memberships in the American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, Metro Denver Dental Society, American Association of Orthodontics, Roth Williams International Society of Orthodontists, Colorado Academy of Excellence in Dentistry, and the Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists. He is also active in a local Roth Williams study club called Colorado Orthodontists For Occlusion. When he is not working in one of these organizations he is active in charitable work with The Howard Dental Center, Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate Clinic at Rose Hospital and Project Angel Heart.

Dr. Benson lives a few short blocks from the office, with his wife Dione, who works at the front desk. Dr. Benson has served on his neighborhood board and enjoys living and working in the neighborhood his patients live in. This close connection has lead to support for Bromwell School, Graland Country Day School and Stanley British Primary School. Working and living in the heart of Denver also allows him to fully participate in many of his hobbies, including, running, cycling, skiing and woodworking.

Mrs. Dione Benson MBA MPH

Dr. Benson and Dione were married in June 1995 after Dr. Benson completed Dental School. While Dr. Benson was in school Dione obtained her Masters in Business Administration and a Masters in Public Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago. When not answering the phones, preparing insurance claims or scheduling patients, Dione is active in several charities. She has helped both Howard Dental Center and Project Angel Heart with fundraising efforts the last several years. Dione and Dr. Benson moved to Colorado in May 1998, from Chicago, and have been in love with Colorado ever since. Dione enjoys the many outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer, including camping, landscaping, running and do-it-yourself home remodeling projects.

Mrs. Susan Chavez

Susan joined the practice in July 2006 but have worked with Dr. Benson since April 2000. Before Susan joined Dr. Benson she was working at a dental laboratory making retainers, splints and other custom appliances for Dr. Benson and other occlusion driven practices. Susan has also been a clinical orthodontic assistant for 10 years prior to the lab. Susan is Dr. Benson’s only clinical assistant and she is now making all of his custom appliances in house. Susan was born and raised in Brighton, Colorado. She lives with her husband Jaime and their 6 children. She is active in her children’s education and sporting events. She also enjoys biking, gardening, flower arranging and spending time with her family.
